Benefits for Faculty
MyRubrics has been designed with the faculty member in mind. The user-friendly interface allows faculty to control their own settings and decide which features provided meets their assessment needs. MyRubrics enables faculty to actively engage students in the classroom through dynamic formative assessment which provides students direct feedback on their performance with specific information on how they can improve. Faculty can use myRubrics to collaborate with colleagues and external stakeholders as well as provide documentation of their accomplishments for promotion and/or tenure. The benefits for faculty are numerous and include:
- User-friendly, web-based tool to enhance the assessment of student performance.
- Provides the ability to develop scoring rubrics to monitor student performance and provide feedback on how they can improve.
- Voting provides faculty the ability to pose a question to the class and get instant feedback on correct responses or preferences which are posted for the class to see.
- Surveys/Questionnaire can be used to find out which concepts or methods need more clarification.
- All course assignments submitted electronically are archived with the assessment results for use in grading and documenting student learning. These can be accessed at any time as historical information will always be available for the faculty member to review.
- For team-based assignments, Community can be used as shared workspace for student teams that can be monitored for progress and to provide clarification and guidance.
- Colleagues and external stakeholders can be invited to participate in the assessment of student submissions using scoring rubrics.
- Dynamic, personalized E-Portfolio can be used by faculty to document and highlight personal and professional accomplishments including education, professional development, publications, research interests, collaborations, and teaching/course innovations.
- Community can be used as a shared space for committee work, collaboration with colleagues (both internal and external), and dialog with students about course assignments.
- Access to example scoring rubrics used by other institutions is provided for myRubrics users.
